Item Description
2-9/16” showing U.S. Capitol with rim text “Support The Gay Rights Amendment In Congress.” Button is ink dated on the back 1975. What the button calls “Gay Rights” amendment was more widely known as the Equal Rights Amendment which had been introduced in 1972. By 1979, 35 of 38 states had ratified it and the deadline was extended to 1982 but eventually the effort to pass it failed. Button is essentially Mint and the only example we’ve seen.
