Item Description
2-1/16” with rim text “Lesbian & Gay Pride/NYC 1989/Stonewall/20 Years.” Button commemorates event of June 29, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn, Greenwich Village when a riot of gays vs. police ensued generally accepted as the landmark event of the Gay Rights Movement. Inked date on reverse “6/89.” Curl reads “©1989 Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookshop” with New York City address and the name of the button designer. Only example we’ve seen and essentially Mint.
