Item numbers 1187 through 2776 in auction 200
Item Description
6.25x8x8.25” tall hollow molded cardboard figure shows Bonzo reclining with large smile on his face. Manufactured by Old King Cole, noted for their comic character advertisements of the highest quality, also making displays for Disney characters. This version is much scarcer than version made with headphones to advertise Crosley Radios. This model was used to promote Bonzo merchandise in general, not a specific product. Underside of display has Old King Cole label. Label reads “Copyright 1924 Old King Cole, Inc. Canton, O., U.S.A. Bonzo Patent Applied For.” Additional faint ink inscription on underside. Figure has 1” crack/split at tip of ear and moderate paint flaking. Scattered dust soiling. Figure is VG+. Scarce in any condition due to its fragile nature. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
