Item Description
This card was issued to members of one of the earliest TV series made for children. The show began March 11, 1947 and ended June 15, 1951. The show was hosted by “’Big Brother’ Bob Emery” whose title and facsimile signature appear on this card. Card has a stamped date of “Jun. 16 1948.” The member’s name is signed in ink and states he is “Member No. 36470 In Good Standing With All Video Privileges.” The show began weekly but soon expanded to 5 days a week, making it possibly the first television series to air with that frequency. Upper right corner of card has 1” diagonal crease with tiny pin hole where the club button was likely attached. Card still displays clean and Exc. A rare artifact from the earliest days of children’s television.
