Item Description
This impressive piece was designed for use in either movie theaters and/or department stores to immediately get peoples’ attention. Consists of a semi-circular glass sheet painted on the reverse and permanently mounted into a groove on a painted wood base 4x19.5” long by .75” thick. The glass itself is almost 16” long by 9” tall. Behind the glass is the original white porcelain light fixture holding a circular frosted light bulb. There is no electrical cord present but it could easily be replaced as the light fixture is designed so that wires could be screwed fast to re-attach a cord. Artwork on the glass is beautifully done and features expressive images of Mickey and Minnie in dancing poses which are based on Les Clark 1929 model sheets. Les Clark, a Disney Legend, was the first of the Nine Old Men to join the company in 1927. Over the years, the white bkg. paint has developed fairly numerous hairline craze marks as well as the scattered loss of some spots for the most part, about .25” or less in size. Overall the white bkg. remains about 90% complete. The images themselves consisting of red, black and white paint are near 100% intact and stand out beautifully depicting Mickey and Minnie. VF. The only example we know of, possibly unique. From the Deak Stagemyer Collection.
