Item Description
c. 1936 by Soreng-Manegold Co. of Chicago. Painted plaster with base dia. of 6” and height of 6.25” to the top of Mickey’s nose, 10.25” to the top of the socket. Great image of a relaxed Mickey seated in an armchair and holding onto a book with text on front cover of Mickey’s name and Disney copyright. Complete with original shade which has bottom dia. of 9” and height of 5.5”. Thin glossy cardboard with a total of 5 different images of Mickey showing the progression of his day from going to school to playing baseball to eating to writing letters and finally going to bed (his pants are hung over bedpost and shoes are under the bed). Shade has moderate all-over aging. .5” puncture to the left of one image. Few small lt. crease lines. Slight trace of red color fade to a couple of the images. As far as these types of fragile shades go, still a Fine example. Underside of lamp is missing felt covering. Has original cord although this shows wear and while lamp works, it should be re-wired for actual use which can be easily accomplished. Lamp itself has small scattered paint flakes most noticeable on Mickey’s nose. No serious defects to note, appearance remains bright with glossy finish. VF. A classic and desirable Mickey item further enhanced with the inclusion of the extremely rare shade. The last example we offered with shade sold for $5,750.
