Text around the bottom of FDR reads “This Can Be Done – It Must Be Done – It Will Be Done.” The bottom of the mug reads…”We Will Accept Only A World Consecrated To Freedom Of Speech And Expression And The Freedom Of Every Person To Worship God In His Own Way – Freedom From Want And Freedom From Terrorism.” Both quotes are from May 27, 1941 radio address announcing the proclamation of an unlimited national emergency. Eight rubs appear on top rim edge from pinpoint dot to 1/16” nick – all very minor. Rest is Mint. Underside includes logo plus impressed in glaze “Wedgwood” and “Made In England.” Same markings appear on the Churchill mug. Churchill quotes are all from a BBC broadcast of February 1941 and read “…Give Us The Tools And We Will Finish The Job.” Bottom reads “… We Will Fight On The Seas And Oceans. We Shall Fight On the Beaches We Shall Fight On The Landing Grounds, In The Fields, In The Streets And In The Hills – We Shall Never Surrender.” There is a 2” vertical hairline crack just right of the lion’s tail but all but invisible.
