Item Description
35.5x119” stone lithographed weatherproof muslin banner for 1931 Mascot 12-chapter serial that starred Boris Karloff just before his big break playing the Frankenstein Monster. Brass grommets at margins as made for hanging at theaters. Striking visuals include man dressed as sheik protecting woman at left from advancing lion and gorilla on right. Large serial title at top middle with “An All-Talking Serial In Twelve Stirring Chapters With Walter Miller – Nora Lane – Dorothy Christy – Tom Santschi – Boris Karloff – Victor Potel – Arthur Mclaglen.” Underneath this is nice image of camel caravan. Serial was directed by Richard Thorpe. Linen was folded and has crease lines with some wear/tears along fold crease intersections. Corners have been trimmed, likely at time of issue by theater. 24x31” panel of moderate dust soiling but VG overall. Scarce.
