Item Description
35.5x119” stone lithographed weatherproof muslin banner for 1943 Universal 13-chapter serial starring Tom Brown as Smilin’ Jack. “Based Upon The Newspaper Feature ‘Smilin’ Jack’ By Zack Mosley.” Serial was directed by Ray Taylor. Brass grommets at margins as made for hanging at theaters. Corners pinned back by these grommets. Striking visuals show Smilin’ Jack with gun drawn with female co-star Marjorie Lord as flaming plane crashes behind them and Asian officer looks on. Right side of banner shows artillery shooting down plane and Smilin’ Jack punching Asian agent. Banner has been folded and shows moderate wear along fold lines with aging and moisture staining at margins. VG-. Scarce.
