Item Description
This piece is 1-1/8” tall. It is also listed as DeWitt/Sullivan 1868-59. Frame has nice areas of brightness while other areas are a little dark with tarnish. The ferrotype is about 95% complete. The missing emulsion is at the extreme upper left edge where a small flake has removed all of the letter “G” of “GRANT.” There is just a tiny sliver off the letter “R” of his name. All other lettering is intact and the portraits are extremely clear. Brass plate covering the reverse reads “Patent App. For.” In the Hake 2004 Revised Prices at $600 but with the small flake this starts much lower.
