Item Description
The slightly convex buckle is 2-5/16x3-5/16”. Outer border has a panel of embossed stars while center has large inscription “C&S.” Within the tops of the letters there are a pair of tiny holes each under 1/16” where the piece may once have been mounted for display. Reverse of the piece has vertical bar on one side which would hold a belt plus a raised piece of tin that would be used to hold it closed. Tiny bit of oxidation on the reverse plus a pair of small solder dots each holding a tiny piece of brass wire whose original purpose is unknown to us. Front of the piece still has silvery luster highlights with just a little tan oxidation within the upper circle of the ampersand design. Very thin and minor dent line on the upper right edge. Piece displays VF. Listed as Hake #3062.
