Auction #201 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1408 in auction 201
Item Description
2-1/8” exceptionally large for an early Labor Day button. Beautiful center logo with ribbon text “In Union Is Strength” while upper rim has large lettering “Labor Conquers All” and text below reads “Labor Omnia Vincit/Compliments Of The May Co. Sept. 2, 1901/Cleveland’s Shopping Center, Cleveland, Ohio.” Button likely had a backpaper now gone. Cello front has 1” long hairline scratch and several smaller around the center and surrounding but these are obvious only in reflected light and under most viewing conditions do not show. Button is totally clean and without stain. Among the earliest and largest Labor Day buttons and a rare single day issue.
