Item Description
14x23” thin artboard has 9x11” India ink original art in center of smiling Uncle Walt handing Skeezix a dime bank with his name and image on it as Pal the dog looks on. Art is signed at lower right “King.” Text is hand-lettered in ink at top, possibly for use as promotional poster. Bottom portion has 4.25x12.75” daily newspaper comic strip glued in place which has 4 panels with Uncle Walt explaining to Skeezix how to save money in his dime bank. Last panel has Skeezix saying “Why Don’t You Get A Nickel Bank? I Can Fill It Faster.” Artboard has lt. dust soil and a few pencil notations around image area, text portion at top is more heavily dust soiled and artboard is missing a few 1.75” pieces around top. Printed comic strip at bottom is evenly tanned with pieces gone around margins. Image area itself is VF. Wonderful graphics. Bank is scarce, this art is unique and perfect for both comic and bank collectors. From the Parisian Novelty Co. of Chicago archives.
