Item Description
8x10” vintage glossy photograph by the U.S. Army Signal Corps depicts Lt. Gen. Patton, his binoculars hanging from his neck and his ivory-handled revolver at his waist on his right side with his helmet and shirt collar emblazoned with 3 stars. Patton was promoted to Lt. General and placed in command of 11 corps on March 6, 1943. He was promoted to temporary 4-star General in April, 1945. Photo is signed “G.S. Patton Jr.” just above his belt. This area of the image is dark so signature is only visible in reflected light. Signature is exc. o/w. Unfortunate that the photo was signed in this area but signed photos of Patton are scarce and desirable. Reverse side has ink stamped text “Confidential, Until Declassified By Censor. Photo By Signal Corps U.S. Army 166th Signal Photo Co.” Photo has numerous handling creases, one tiny tear at upper left side blank margin edge. A few hairline color rubs at right side of image area. Wear most obvious in reflected light. Will mat and frame to VG appearance. Comes with Hake’s COA.
