One card has manager Margaret Nabel wearing dress and hat, the other shows her at far right in full uniform. First card with team name includes the word “Inc.” Each has Beach Street, Staten Island, NY address. Trace of lt. dust soil, bit of lt. aging. Second card has ink notations for players’ positions just below photo. Overall Fine. Scarce. The team was founded in 1910 and had many successes over the next 23 years. Margaret Nabel became manager in 1920. Bloomer Girls got their name from Amelia Bloomer who designed and wore the loose-fitting Turkish-style trousers that carried her name and made sports more practical for women athletes. In the 1890s, scores of Bloomer Girls baseball teams were formed all over the country. There was no league. Bloomer Girls rarely played each other but barnstormed across America challenging local town, semi-pro and minor league men’s teams and frequently won. Nice images.
