15x18” vintage wooden frame has original mat with 7.5x9.25” opening with choice photo including various players holding basketballs. Bottom of mat has printed caption including players’ names. Fifteen nations competed in the basketball tournament, a total of 56 games of basketball were played. The USA won gold followed by silver for Soviet Union and bronze for Uruguay. Play began Nov. 22nd and ended Dec. 1st. Notable players who later became NBA Hall of Famers included Bill Russell and K.C. Jones. They are shown on this photo along with other players Tucker, Jeangerad, Ford, Halderson, Tomsic, Darling, Coogan, Hougland, Evans, Bouschaka, Walsh, King, Bock and Drake. Reverse side of backing board has stamp for Griggs Studio in Bartlesville, OK with slip offering additional prints available. Frame has scattered wear around edges.
