Item Description
20.25x26.25” oak frame has archival mat with 11.75x19.5” opening revealing 11x18.75” vintage photo in center held in place by acetate corner mounts. Nice image shows 22 players in full uniform, a few holding gloves on field with stadium in bkg. Lower right corner has photo credit “Baker Art Gallery.” The name Mud Hens was first used in 1896 after the team was bought by Charles Strobel. When the American Association revived as a minor league in 1902, the Mud Hens joined as a charter member. Swayne Field opened in June, 1909 and became the Mud Hens primary home through 1955. The Mud Hens won the AA pennant only once, in 1927 when Casey Stengel was manager. Displays Exc. as framed and matted. Nice sharp photo. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
