Lot of 20 softcover books published between 1943-1947 and distributed to soldiers at the front. Books were published at a smaller, typically 4x5.5” to 4.5x6.5” size so as to conveniently fit into soldier’s cargo pocket. Titles included popular novels, poetry, mysteries, westerns, science fiction and classics among others. Included are: #s 658-“The Charge Of The Light Brigade” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson; 677, 888, 938, 999, 993, 1024, 1026 “The King Is Dead On Queen Street” by Francis Bonnamy, 1032, 1037 “Frank Leahy And The Fighting Irish – The Story Of Notre Dame Football” by Arch Ward, 1059 “The Story Of George Gershwin,” 1060, 1061, 1068 “Inside The F.B.I.” 1070, 1074 “The Sunday Pigeon Murders” by Craig Rice, 1103 as well as 3 titles from the letter series: B-37 “Our Hearts Were Young And Gay,” R-2 “Selected Poems Of John Keats” and R-12 “Geography And Human Destiny.” Varying degrees of handling wear most evident along spines. Fine overall with a few VF and a few VG/Fine.
