Item Description
Each is 5-3/8x7-5/8” hardcover with original dust jacket. Fearful Pleasures title is copyright 1946 by A.E. Coppard. Dust jacket has Ronald Clyne art showing tired looking older man seated at table with storm brewing outside open window. Collects 22 of Coppard’s best ghost stories. 4,033 copies printed. Dust jacket has lt. wear around edges, most noticeable along front spine edge. Back is lightly tanned, first inside flap has 2.5” diagonal piece clipped off top and bottom. Spine has a few color rubs. VG/Fine. Blank inside covers of book have some dust soil. Light bumps at corner tips. Book o/w clean, tight and Exc. Black Medicine title has voodoo art images on front cover of dust jacket and photo of author Arthur J. Burks with bio on inside back flap. 308 pages. Limited first edition. Only 1,952 copies printed. Burks (1898-1974) was a prolific pulp writer who in later life did important work in the Marine Corps during WWII. The stories in this volume, representing his best Weird work, were published mostly in Weird Tales between 1924 and 1928. Dust jacket has a few lt. cover scuffs, color rubs along edges most noticeable along spine and right side of front cover. Back cover has moderate dust soiling. Tiny bit of paper missing from spine top and bottom. VG/Fine. Book itself is clean, tight and Exc. ©1966. Nice pair. Scarce.
