Auction #201 - Part II
Item numbers 1409 through 3152 in auction 201
Item Description
2-1/8” with Bastian backpaper in superb color with wonderful design dated for Sep. 1-5 celebration in Long Beach, Calif. Primary text letters are formed by sea snakes with circular heads including facial accents. The scallop shell design encompasses a lovely mermaid in the harbor waters with sailboats in the bkg. This beautiful example has just the slightest general surface wear barely noticeable in reflected light. The only trace of a defect is a single pinpoint apparent air bubble in the celluloid on the extreme bottom edge at 7 o’clock showing as a white tiny dot. All else is N. Mint and the button features perfect centering and high gloss along with a totally clean backpaper. Our last example which had 2 hairline scratches in reflected light exceeded $900. This example is certainly its equal if not better. One of the most stunning buttons ever issued.
