Item Description
3’ wide by 4’ tall acrylic on canvas has wonderful concept art of Felix as painter at top and Popeye at bottom watching Swee’ Pea drawing Olive Oyl saying “At’s Per-Perfik” with second word “Per” spelled backwards in center of sentence. Art is c. 1980s. Hand titled on the back in purple paint “Poplix Laser Distortions” signed “John S. Fawcett 51.” John Fawcett contributed to Mike Barrier’s fanzine “Funnyworld” in the 1970s. He did numerous covers and stories and he also drew his own “Work Of Art Comics” #1 in 1970. He taught art for 32 years at the University of Connecticut, and currently runs an antique toy and art museum in Maine. He’s recognized as a memorabilia collector and fine artist. Painting is bright and Exc. Extremely well done. One of the few original John Fawcett paintings we’ve seen available on the market.
