Item Description
19.5x21-5/8" frame contains 11.5x17" sheet of thin art board with India ink and airbrush original art showing Jeff Smith's beloved Fone Bone character from the "Bone" comic book series that was published 1991-2004. Fone Bone is seen building a snow version of The Great Red Dragon, which frightens and wards off an attack by 2 "Stupid, Stupid Rat Creatures," who try throughout the series to eat Fone Bone. Art is unsigned by Smith, but done by the artist. Art was used as the cover to Diamond Comic Distributor's Dec., 1994 "Star System Winter Catalog." Art has sizing notation at margins in black ink noting different cropping sizes for "Catalog" and "Calendar," so piece was likely utilized as either a calendar page or cover around the same time. Sheet has some handling wear, mostly to margins, but art areas remain clean and Exc. and as matted, art displays Mint. Jeff Smith original "Bone" art rarely comes of the market and this is as nice a piece as any, bursting with Winter charm.
