Item Description
6x8.5” cardboard. Lollipop holder for candy by Brandle & Smith Co. of Phila. who also made Mickey candy bars. Dates to 1933. Front depicts Mickey walking and holding a lollipop in one hand, other arm is die-cut and movable as are Mickey’s eyes and ears. Opens to reveal a variety of different small images of Mickey and Minnie along with lollipop-related poem. Also attached inside is die-cut card which originally held lollipops. This once blank surface is covered by a penciled story, done at the time, noting how the lollipops were originally obtained by a boy who was given them as a gift from a woman who felt sorry for him after his fingers got caught in a door. Trace of aging/edge wear. Fine. A rare item further enhanced by the interesting provenance.
