Item Description
11.5x14.5” illustrated mailing envelope contains extensive and elaborate kit issued by Chicken of the Sea and from the first year of Disneyland, 1955. This restaurant (also known as “Captain Hook’s Pirate Ship” and as the “Chicken of the Sea Restaurant”) was a Disneyland landmark from 1955 until 1982. Envelope which features pirate ship and mermaid logos has scattered edge wear but is without mailing label. Fine. Order form includes detailed instructions on the kit as well as complete list of Chicken of the Sea products. There are a pair of large fold-out sheets. First is 18x34” on paper and includes “Pin The Hat On Captain Peg-Leg” game along with invitations and “Who Am I” game cards featuring images of things such as mermaid, octopus, King Neptune, etc. Second stiff paper sheet is 23x28” and includes 8 different punch-out pirate hats, eye patches, mustaches and place cards. These are designated with specific titles including 2 for gunner, ship’s cook, armorer, first-third mates and captain. Both sheets have loose perforations but all remain complete, intact and used. Final items are 8 matching napkins and 8 matching placemats all nicely illustrated. Napkins even include treasure puzzle and secret code. All remain unused. Exc./N. Mint. Great design. From the Bruce Cervon Collection.
