Item Description
Overall flattened size (as never fully assembled) is 7.5x7.5”. Issued by American Novelty Candy Co. and copyright 1928. Box was designed to be converted into an airplane after contents were removed. Nicely illustrated and resembles the Spirit of St. Louis with text “Candy Air Mail,” a reference to Lindbergh who was a U.S. Air Mail pilot at the time of his historic non-stop solo flight over the Atlantic in 1927. Includes pilot image of 3 views, straight-on and right/left sides. Additional small images under the plane are of ships. As this was never fully assembled and reverse has a penciled number, this was most likely a file copy. Does have a pair of 1/8” punctures on top and bottom side edges and small trace of extreme edge wear. Exc. As rare and exceptional a candy box as we have offered in our 44 years.
