Item Description
c. 1880s. 4 1/8x6.5" with 3 1/6x3 9/16" photo on front showing 2 bearded men, each on wooden apparatus, sliding down center track of railway. Reverse side has printed text "Photographed and Published By B. W. Kilburn, Littleton, N. H." The Mt. Washington Railway was a mountain climbing cog railway covering a three mile trestle on Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. The railway first opened on July 3, 1869. Card has some light dust soiling. Image area has yellowed with age a bit but still clear. Overall card is Fine, image VF. Nice photo of two early daredevils.
