5.5x8" soft cover with 64 b/w pages has inset cover photos of Indian brave at left side and same brave at right wearing suit with graphics at lower left of Indian settlement and civilized house at right with couple walking in foreground. Two pages have text explaining how the Carlisle Barracks were established in 1755 as an outpost against Indians and became an Indian school on Sept. 6, 1879. Mentions how the school has been able to lead the Indians into the national life, teaching them English, and means of self-support among civilized people. Also mentioned are two athletic fields for football, baseball, and other outdoor games. Numerous full page photos show members in art class, music room, living quarters, football team, band, group of Apaches, baseball team, and trade shops. Covers have lt. dust soil, bottom spine seam has split with small bit of loose paper. Overall cover is Fine, content VG. Interesting prospective on our treatment of Native Americans.
