Item Description
Lot of two. First is 3.5x5.5". Illustration of Teddy Roosevelt in African safari attire. Holds up raccoon-looking animal by the tail as jungle animals look on. Back of postcard has facsimile message "Every Time I Shoot Anything I Think Of You-T.R." addressed to "U.S. Senate-Washington/D.C./U.S.A. Facsimile-canceled April 17, 1909 from Mombasa, Africa. Small evidence of wear and tanning. VG. Second is 3.5x5.5" real photo postcard with bottom text reading "Taft Stunt Engineers Campfire '12." Group of men in field hold a sign reading "Taft's Platform/One Plank." A long single wood plank is displayed. To the right is a "G.O.P." costumed two man elephant. A man apparently in a top hat and large mustache stands in center behind seated men with hand in the air representing Taft. To his right is a large bottle-shaped object with sign reading "Teddy's Blood." Unused. N. Mint. From the Richard Merkin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
