©1929 by Clayton Knight published by David McKay Company Philadelphia. 8.5x11-3/8" hardcover with nice front cover art of WWI biplanes going up in sky in pre-dawn darkness. Contains 78 b/w pages with numerous b/w and full color illustrations by noted aviation artist Clayton Knight. Inside front cover has Milton Caniff ink stamp and was in his personal library. Blank page facing title page has nice 4.25x4.5" fountain pen ink autograph "To The Millers In Gratefull Remembrance Of Their Stirring Work At The Marriage Of Katherine And Clayton Knight 1922-1929". Covers have lt. bumps and minor color rubs at corner tips, paper title label on spine is missing .25" piece at bottom. Front cover image has trace of lt. wear. Inside pages are clean and tight. Overall covers Fine, Insides Exc. Clayton Knight drew the Sunday comic strip "The Hall Of Fame Of The Air" which was written by Captain Eddie Rickenbacker and was also the father of Hilary Knight, author of "Eloise". In WWII he and William Bishop helped organize the Eagle Squadrons volunteer American fighter pilots group who flew with the RAF before Pearl Harbor. Milton Caniff is noted for his classic comic strips Terry and the Pirates and Steve Canyon. Wonderful association item owned by Caniff and autograph reference to Clayton Knight's marriage. Scarce as a signed copy, especially with such a nice autograph.
