4.25x6-3/8" hardcover with nice front cover photo of bare-chested, bare-knuckled Jack Johnson. Has 98 pages plus four full page slick paper photos. These are: well dressed Johnson with top hat and cane, fighting Tommy Burns, knocked down in ring and fighting James Jefferies which gave him the World Heavyweight Championship title. This book is a translation of a memoir by Johnson that was published in France as a series of articles and includes Johnson's career as a local politician in Galveston, Texas, hunting kangaroos in Australia, and seasickness. He comments on race and the color line in boxing and in America in general. Published by Pierre Lafitte & Co. Paris with all text in French. Tipped on cover photo has some lt. dust soil and cover corner tips have lt. bumps. Overall covers Fine. Contents are Exc. Rare and historic.
