5-5/8x8-5/8" hardcover ©1946 by Nat Fleischer editor of The Ring magazine includes title text "World's Most Sensational Middleweight Champion". Book has 104 pages including photos and art of Ketchel in action. Blank frontispiece page has nice fountain pen autograph "To Max Price Sincerely Nat Fleischer". Cover has scattered lt. wear and spine is faded with lt. bumps to corner tips. Overall covers VG, contents and autograph are Exc. Nat Fleischer began The Ring magazine in 1922 and was editor for 50 years until his death in 1972. Stanley Ketchel (1886-1910) began boxing professionally in 1904. He became the World's Middleweight Champion on Feb. 8, 1908 after knocking out Mike "Twin" Sullivan in the first round. In 1909 he challenged Jack Johnson for the World's Heavyweight crown and floored Johnson in the 12th round. Johnson eventually won the fight by knockout. Great reading and nicely illustrated.
