Item numbers 1 through 1553 in auction 202
Item Description
A number of these are pictured in Dewitt/Hake for the 1848 campaign of Zachary Taylor. This is from the same era and French maker, but 3-1/8" embossed pewter front cover shows large eagle with "E Pluribus Unun" across the chest shield and with accent bursts above all shown below the text "United States Of America." Interior holds mirror with excellent silvering. A wire frame/hinge allowing cover to be propped open is missing but otherwise extremely Fine with just small 1/8" oxidation dot by the eagle's beak. Embossed reverse has floral designs around the center mark of maker "B.C./Brevete A Paris." Scarce.
