Item numbers 1 through 1553 in auction 202
Item Description
This superb condition 15/16" ferrotype features an uncommon portrait of Douglas designated in Dewitt as # 2 of three used. Listed as Dewitt/Sullivan SD 1860-37. Front has his full name in larger letters than usual along with date of 1860. Image is just a little on the darker side as made but also flawlessly Mint with full gloss as made. This side also has Mint luster on the brass frame. On the Johnson side, the frame also has Mint luster. The image is very bright but with a tiny 1/16" long speck of emulsion off the right background. Still a superior example overall with essentially Mint luster and Mint Douglas ferro.
