Item numbers 1 through 1553 in auction 202
Item Description
1-3/16" tall embossed brass with reverse stickpin. Design features ferrotype with his name above his portrait set in a circular beaded frame and mounted on the brass shell formed by furled flags left and right with an eagle displayed at the top. Listed as Hake # 3016 as well as Dewitt 1880-9 and issued as a mate to Dewitt Garfield 1880-20. Emulsion surface has very slight raised dot at its center although the emulsion itself remains intact. Extreme outer edge of ferrotype shows tiny rust dot traces but visible only with magnification. Brass luster on the shell remains Exc. with just a tiny darker spot on the eagle's wing at left and three very small spots on the flags. Vast majority of luster remains and the ferrotype retains its nice gloss unscratched and unchipped surface. Rare and VF.
