Item Description
1-5/8" tall flat two-sided well detailed full figure with his name on each side of his hat. Hat has a small hole so it could be joined to a chain and loop if desired. At the base of his heel is a tiny brass piece. When the object is held between the fingers with one at the hat and a thumbnail directly below this brass piece upward pressure causes his hand to be revealed in a nose-thumbing gesture. The concept dated back to the 1880 Garfield versus Hancock campaign and this piece would most likely be from Cleveland's 1884 or 1888 campaign. More frequently seen is the Harding nose-thumber from 1920. Hake # 3152. Exc. with just very minor luster wear. Morry Greener Collection.
