Item Description
Silvered brass bug is 1" tall by 1-3/8" wide with the wings open. The more frequently seen version of this has paper photos on each wing showing Bryan and Sewell. However on this scarcer variety the left hand wing has paper photo of Bryan while the right hand wing has inscription "16/1." Bugs body has about 30% of the silvering remaining but both wings have nearly full silvering although with just a little brownish discoloration at the base of the right wing. Each wing folds inward and locks beneath the bug's body and then when a tiny tab is pushed they spring open. Underside has a professionally replaced pin shaft. A support bar on the underside of the piece is stamped with its patent date of "May 1, '96." The Bryan paper photo has a slight green cast to it with a slightly darker narrow ring of green color around the upper edge. All details remain extremely clear. Hake #304 and the first example we've been able to offer in many years.
