Item Description
February 1927 Vol. 1 #11 issue of Amazing Stories is 8x11" with pages numbered 977-1078. Issue contains part one of "The Land That Time Forgot" story by Edgar Rice Burroughs with wonderful cover art of flying creatures attacking naval destroyer by Frank R. Paul. Issue also includes H.G. Wells story "The First Men In The Moon" concluding chapter. Issue has spine roll and cover creasing and dust soil, spine is worn with splits at top and bottom and front cover has 1" tear at left and back cover has 1.5" tear at lower right. Inside pages are lightly but evenly tanned. A few are coming loose but issue is complete. Overall Good/VG. Sept. 1928 issue is 8.5x11-5/8" Vol. 3 #6 with pages numbered 481-576. Front covers features first prize winning logo design for "Scientifiction" which includes gears in center with one labeled fact and the other labeled theory. Pages 520-521 show logo contest artist entries including second prize winner Clarence Beck art. CC Beck would go on to greater fame at Fawcett Comics with his work on Captain Marvel and other characters. Issue has heavy cover dust soil, bottom half of spine is split, back cover is worn at upper right and bottom right. Overall covers Good, insides lightly but evenly tanned but overall Fine. Third pulp is "Fantastic Adventures" vol. one #2 for July 1939. Issue is 8.5x11.25" with 98 pages with front cover painting by Leo Morey depicting a scene from "Invaders From Sirius" story and back cover painting is by Paul illustrating arrival of "The Man From Venus." Issue includes new story by Edgar Rice Burroughs "The Scientists Revolt." Issue includes illustration by Leo Morey and Jay Jackson. Covers have lt. dust soil at edges, white areas of inside covers are a bit tanned with age but issue is overall Fine/VF. Interesting group.
