Auction #202 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1553 in auction 202
Item Description
This exceptional item was obviously designed for some Democratic dignitary to wear. It features a 1908 real photo without dot pattern 2.25" dia. cello within a brass rim. See same photo on Hake #131. The reverse is covered tin with a pair of pointed prongs that firmly join the celluloid to three layers of ruffled purple fabric making the item about .5" thick. The reverse has a stiff mesh fabric covering and once held a horizontal bar pin now gone leaving two small holes where it once protruded through the fabric. The celluloid has small hairlines of surface wear showing only in reflected light plus a slightly heavier 1/8" scratch across his nose. There is no stain. Overall VF and displaying N. Mint. Only example we've seen.
