Item Description
This 1.75" real photo sepia button shows large trees plus building in the background while at lower left is an inset photo of 1904 Vice Presidential candidate running with Theodore Roosevelt. The significance of this rare button always puzzled us until we acquired this example complete with its original Baltimore Badge back paper and the ribbon suspended below and held in place by the collet. In silver text ribbon reads "Fayerbanke/Third/Home Coming/To The/(a word is printed on a diagonal in faded gold type and it appears to be a repeat of the family name "Fayerbanke") Old/Homestead/Dedham, Mass./Aug. 18, 1904." This event occurring during the 1904 campaign relates to Charles Fairbank's ancestry which traced back to the Puritan followers of Oliver Cromwell. The family member Jonathan Fayerbanke was the first family member to reach America in 1632. Cello reverse has 1/16" cello pull along the collet but exceedingly trivial. Other than the faded word on the ribbon condition is N. Mint. See following related button showing TR jugate button. Morry Greener Collection.
