Auction #202 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1553 in auction 202
Item Description
This large 2.25" sepia button features a distinctive portrait of TR wearing a very stylish tie with abstract patterns and appears only on a few buttons in the Hake books. One of these buttons with the identical image is Hake #3172. That example is in the 3.5" size and is suspended by flag ribbon and hanger bar with cello insert reading "Washington, D.C./March 4th, 1905." This button with the back paper of the maker Keystone Badge of Reading, Pa. has the pin suspending a trio of 8" long rwb ribbons with the top one inscribed with the word "Reception." In addition there is a 1.5" flag ribbon suspended just below the button. The cream background of the button has a hairline mark on left background and a wider very slightly off cream mark on the right background but both of these were in the printing of the button and are not stain. Both the button and the celluloid are N. Mint as made. Only example we've seen.
