Item Description
Smallest item is 3-7/8" tall while the largest ribbon badge is 9" tall. The first eight pieces include celluloid on the bar pins and in addition most of these have a celluloid suspension. Only the last item is all metallic. All show some age but nothing too serious although the first two with suspended celluloids do have a bit of browning on the celluloids. The fabric parts of the items are in quite clean condition with some fading on the first item but otherwise quite nice condition without tears and splits. We will give the date and organization for each item starting left to right and top to bottom: (1) Issued for 1899 convention "Workingmens Federation Of The State Of New York." (2) Celluloid shows "Union-Made Cigars" label surrounded by text "United We Stand/Divided We Fall/In Union There Is Strength." Issued by cigar makers union in Allentown, PA. (3) Issued by "Journeymen Tailors Union Of America" Youngstown, Ohio local. Reverse of this is in black and silver used to attend funerals. (4) Large celluloid bar pin reads "In Union There Is Strength." Below is celluloid logo of the "National Union Of The United Brewery Workmen Of The United States." Reverse of this also has a black/silver memorial design. (5) Issued by "United Brick And Clayworkers Of America Chicago, Heights." Again with memorial ribbon on reverse. (6) Issued by "Milk Wagon Drivers Union/Labor Day/1916." Slight loss of gold lettering on the ribbon. (7) Issued by "The Retail Clerks Association/Second Exposition Portland" 1910. Ribbon suspends a blueish plush fabric, the significance which is unknown to us. (8) Issued by "United Brotherhood of Carpenters And Joiners Of America." Dated for Bethlehem 1918. (9) "Montreal/Delegate" badge to "Sixteenth Convention Boot & Shoe Workers Union." Dated for 1925. A nice group of scarce early badges.
