Item Description
First is 13/16" wide red enamel paint on brass flag with large letters "U.G.T." These stand for Union General de Trabajadores which was established in Madrid by a group of printers lead by Pablo Iglesias. They aligned with the Socialist party and opposed the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera. Next is a .75" button with text in Spanish translating to: Unite-to help the Spanish people. This has the date of April 14 1940. Reverse has American backpaper by "Popper & Son" of NYC. Last is fabric and aluminum badge 1-7/8" tall. Top bar reads "United." Medal suspended below shows wounded soldier holding his rifle as a sunburst appears on the horizon all beneath the word "Libertad." Reverse shows raised clenched fist with text "Unidos Venceremos/1937." Trivial wear on the ribbon. Items are Exc. to Mint. A rare group.
