Item Description
September 22, 1942 on Walt Disney Productions letterhead. 8.5x11" typewritten letter addressed "To Whom It May Concern" has bold 3 3/8" “Walt Disney” fountain pen signature at bottom. Letter refers to studio cameraman Clyde Wesley Batchelder applying for a commission in the United States Marine Corp. Disney notes Batchelder had been with the organization since June 1934 and gives him a positive recommendation ending with sentence “He Leaves Us With All The Respect And Goodwill We Can Extend To A Thoroughly Satisfactory Employee”. Letter has one vertical and two horizontal folds as mailed with lt. handling creases, right margin edges have some lt. wear with a few small tears. Top edge of letter has faint paperclip impression with a few tiny rust marks along with a narrow .25x1.25" moisture mark at blank top margin edge. Main body of letter would mat and frame to Near Fine appearance. Nice letter with great signature showing Walt’s support for the war effort personally involving an employee. Comes with Hake’s COA.
