Item Description
29" tall flannel has patch on left shoulder “Veracruz Campeones 1944-45" which translates to champions. Back has large number “6". The team was bankrolled by millionaire owner Jorge Pasquel and signed many standout American and Cuban players, raiding both the Negro League and Major League Baseball. They won Major League pennants in 1940, 1941, 1944 and 1951. They were a Mexican League powerhouse in the 1940s but ceased operations in 1954. The team was managed by Rogers Hornsby and Ramon Bragana in 1944. Jersey front has a few tiny moisture marks just below chest area on left and a few small, barely noticeable red ink marks at right side of letter “Z”. Upper right side just below sleeve has tiny .25" hole, otherwise jersey is bright and has VF/Exc. appearance. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
