Auction #202 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1553 in auction 202
Item Description
7/8" and the only time we've seen a backpaper on an Australian made button. The name is "Alfred E. Stokes." Paper gives an address in Sydney and has the following text "Manufacturer Of Photographic Reproduction, Colored Patriotic, Carnival & Campaign Buttons Etc." They did an outstanding job on this button which has rim text reading "Australia 'Eat That.'" Pictured at center is uniformed Australian soldier socking the surprised Kaiser in the mouth. Tiny text above "Victory & Peace." Tiny speck may show in our photo but that is gone and piece is essentially Mint. Only example we've seen. See following equally rare WWI cartoon button. Morry Greener Collection.
