Item Description
3.75x6-3/8" log book sheet that has printed header titled "Places Visited." Below this is printed text reading "Date, Place." In these areas is typed text reading "April 10, 1912 R.M.S. Titantic." Below this header are the signatures of the captain of the ship and four officers. They include Captain Edward J. Smith, who went down w/ship on April 12, 1912; Fifth Officer Harold G. Lowe, Third Officer Herbert J. Pitman, Second Officer Charles H. Lightoller, Fourth Officer Joseph Groves Boxhall. All signatures appear to be done w/same blue ink fountain pen. Before proceeding officers all survived the sinking of the Titanic. Below their names is a sticker depicting the red flag w/white star logo of the White Star Line of which the Titanic was a member. Interesting piece as this log sheet is dated two days before the ship struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sunk taking with it nearly 1500 lives. Extremely interesting and historically important group of signatures. Page has three horizontal creases as folded. Flag sticker has a .75" crease running vertically. Lt. aging o/w Exc. Comes w/letter of authenticity from Hake's.
