What a fantastic cover by Alex Schomburg. The sight of the men in gas masks committing a robbery must have looked like something from the future to a reader in 1940. Notice that everyone except the law is in a green or orange suit. This really draws attention to the G-Man in blue wielding the machine gun. Over on the right is a list of heroes appearing inside the book. They include G-Man Ace, K-4 and his Sky Devils, Trojack the Tiger Man, Monako–the Magician, and Marvex-Super Robot. This issue contains the last appearance of the Purple Mask, but a character named Whirlwind Carter also begins. This anthology title is one of the oddest of the Golden Age Timely books. It first appeared as a monthly at the beginning of 1940, and after issue five, there was a three month gap in publishing. Number seven took another seven months to come out. Number eight didn’t arrive for still another nine months. With issue #9, the title changed to Daring Comics. It was then canceled with issue #12 in 1942. Throughout its run it featured a wide variety of Marvel/Timely heroes, many of whom only lasted a short while. The pages are cream to off-white. The book is CGC-certified 6.0 (FN). According to the CGC Census, this copy is the third-highest graded copy they have seen.
