Auction #202 - Part II
Item numbers 1554 through 3213 in auction 202
Item Description
17x22" poster for protest and concert event held on December 10, 1971, in Crisler Arena at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The event was filmed and released as "Ten For Two". The reason behind the concert was the arrest of John Sinclair, who was given ten years in jail for possessing two joints. Shortly after the event, Sinclair was released. Great poster design by Gary Grimshaw. Center photo of Sinclair smoking a joint and on either side of this marijuana leaves. List of speakers includes: Rennie Davis, Allen Ginsberg, Shelia Murphy (Labor Defense Coalition), Jerry Rubin, Bobby Seale (Black Panther Party), Leni Sinclair (Rainbow People's Party) and others. Musical performers listed include: John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Archie Shepp, Phil Ochs, Commander Cody and others. Poster has obvious wear and aging with some moisture staining but this is more prevalent on back than front. Scattered creases mostly on margins. 3.5" tear on bottom margin w/tape repair on reverse. 1" tear at top with tape repair. Front appearance remains bright with bold/strong color. Technically Good overall but would display nicely if framed/matted. Scarce.
