16-3/8x46.5" original poster for the Sept. 4-6, 1970 "Open Air Love & Peace" festival held at the Isle of Fehmarn, Germany. Along with a line-up that included Ten Years After, Sly & the Family Stone, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Canned Heat, Vanilla Fudge, Procol Harum, Rod Stewart and the Small Faces, The Incredible String Band, Joan Baez, and others, Jimi Hendrix would perform his last concert ever before his untimely death just two weeks later on Sept. 18th. Hendrix performed on the last day of this festival with his bandmates Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox. Great art featuring overflowing field of foliage with performers names incorporated into the design, "Jimi Hendrix" was the largest among them at bottom center. At top center of art is drummer hidden in the field and his kit has a peace symbol drum head. The poster for this historic event was produced in several color varieties and two sizes. The small size poster, measuring about 11x32”, was discovered in quantity several years ago. This is the very rare large size and version in bw. Moderate scattered aging, mostly along left side including some tan spotting/staining. Lower left edge also has wear with corner creases, small tears and pair of .25" pieces missing. VG.
