Item Description
Green Lantern makes his debut as the new Chairman of the JSA. He returns from a trip to Europe and Asia. Deeply affected by what he has seen, he and the JSA pledge to each raise $100,000 to help provide relief for war orphans. Johnny Thunder pledges to bring $300,000 to the table so that the donation will reach an even million dollars. Unfortunately, he runs into problems and loses the money. Luckily, his Thunderbolt summons honorary members Superman, Batman, and the Flash and they are able to put together $100,000 each. This event sets up the first appearance of Superman and Batman together in the same story; they are together for three panels. At the end of the book, Green Lantern is elected to the fourth Honorary Member position. His place in the JSA will be taken over by Dr. Mid-Nite. Hour-Man is given a leave of absence and his spot will be filled by Sandman. His solo series will continue on Adventure Comics. The striking cover is created by E. E. Hibbard. Contributing to art for this issue is Bernard Baily, Sheldon Moldoff, and Martin Nodell. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified 4.5 (VG+).
